SIRVA Sponsored Workshop Session: Maximising Mobility through Programme Design and Partnerships
Session Description:
Changing Move Types
Employee mobility is still considered essential to achieving organisational goals and workforce objectives. However, there’s been a noticeable shift in the way companies are moving their employees. Both globally and domestically, the use of long-term assignments is relatively stagnant, but there is increased usage of extended business travellers, short-term assignments and permanent relocations. The reasons – and the implications – are worth exploring, since both have a significant impact on the way companies will allocate mobility resources, foster employee engagement, design and administer their mobility programmes, and structure in-house teams that support these employees.
Programme Flexibility
Flexibility has become a significant focus for teams that manage mobility programmes, mobility customers (stakeholders) and relocating employees. Organisations must find a balance between programme structure and flexibility in order to manage process efficiencies and total mobility investment.
Maximising Mobility Partnerships
Today’s mobility programmes are focused on maximising both the company stakeholder and employee relocation experience through tailored relocation processes, policies and support components. A holistic view of a relocation – beyond the support required to physically relocate and integrate the employee and accompanying family to the host location – can have a significant impact on the overall experience.
- When does a relocation officially start and end – and how can the experience be optimised and streamlined throughout, beyond traditional relocation services?
- What relocation and integration needs should be considered, above and beyond the support provided by a mobility policy?
- How can internal and external vendor networks be leveraged for subject matter expertise, knowledge and educational resources?
Topics to be covered will include:
- Why companies relocate employees
- Shifting Move Types – the numbers
- Changing Programme Types – the drivers
- Mobility Programme Implications
- Insights and suggestions to address the challenge of managing mobility programmes using a structured flexibility approach
- How do you define the right level of flexibility that is added to your programme?
- Where can you add flexibility to your policy?
- Best practices to balance policy flexibility with customer and employee experience
- Challenges you may encounter for change management
