  • • If a traveler does not meet the conditions specified by the Department of Health, a health official may prohibit an aircraft or boat from entering Hong Kong

    • Effective 9 April 2021, nationals and residents of Hong Kong will only have to quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel for 14 days (previously, they were required to quarantine for 21 days)

    • Effective 0 April 2021, travelers from Group D- Low risk countries (Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore) must quarantine for 14 days in a designated quarantine hotel, self-monitor for the seven days after quarantine ends and undergo COVID-19 tests on day 19 after arrival

    • Effective 9 April 2021, travelers from Group A- Extremely high risk countries (Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, and the United Kingdom) must quarantine for 21 days in a designated quarantine hotel; present negative results of a nucleic acid COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure, and present a room reservation in a designated quarantine hotel in Hong Kong SAR

    • Effective 9 April 2021, travelers from Group B- Very high risk countries (Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Ecuador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States) must quarantine for 21 days in a designated quarantine hotel; present negative results of a nucleic acid COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure, and present a room reservation in a designated quarantine hotel in Hong Kong SAR

    • Effective 9 April 2021, travelers from Group C- medium to high-risk (all countries outside of Groups A and B and Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan) must quarantine for 21 days in a designated quarantine hotel and present a room reservation in a designated quarantine hotel in Hong Kong SAR

    • The results of the COVID-19 nucleic acid test must be in English or Chinese; the name of the traveler must be identical to the traveler’s valid travel document; it must specify that the sample was taken from the traveler within 72 hours of the traveler’s departure from a specified aircraft; that the test was a nucleic acid test; and the results were negative
    - If the report does not contain the above information, a written confirmation in English or Chinese issued by the laboratory or healthcare institution with the name of the relevant traveler which is identical to the name on their valid travel document with all other relevant information will be accepted; this confirmation should be presented with the rest report to show that the laboratory or healthcare institution is ISO 15189 accredited or recognized or approved by the relevant authority of the government of the place in which the laboratory of healthcare institution is located

    • COVID-19 test for all asymptomatic travelers arriving at the Hong Kong International Airport; they will need to stay at the Temporary Specimen Collection Centre to wait for test results, which will be available on the same day, before they can proceed with immigration procedures

    • The following quarantine rules apply until 30 September 2021

    • 14-day quarantine at home, hotel or other accommodation for travelers from Mainland China, Macau SAR or Taiwan, unless an exemption applies
    - 21-day enforced hotel quarantine for all travelers who have visited any country / territory outside of Mainland China (including Macau SAR and Taiwan)
    - Travelers must provide a confirmation in English or Chinese of a room reservation in a licensed hotel in Hong Kong SAR for at least 21 days starting on the day of arrival; quarantine at a private residence is no longer permitted
    - The 21-day quarantine must be completed in one of the 'designated quarantine hotels' in accordance with the directions under the Prevention and Control of Disease

    • The following categories of travelers are quarantine-exempt:
    - Those entering to receive or provide services in relation to nursery, kindergarten, primary or secondary education at a school registered under the Education Ordinance in Hong Kong SAR;
    - Those whose travel is related to manufacturing, business activities or the provision of professional services considered by the Hong Kong government to be in the interest of Hong Kong's economic development; and
    - Those eligible for the Return2hk Travel Scheme

    • Hong Kong residents who have remained in Guangdong Province or Macau SAR in the past 14 days may be quarantine-exempt under the 'Return2hk' scheme
    - To benefit from a quarantine exemption under this scheme, travelers apply for a quota spot via an online booking system. Applications can be filed every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 to 18:00 (local time) for a quota spot in the seven-day period of the following week
    - Quarantine-exempt travelers are limited to 3,000 daily entrants for Shenzhen Bay Port and 2000 daily entrants for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge; quotas may increase as the scheme develops
    - Quotas will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis
    - Travelers under this scheme must take a COVID-19 within three days prior to entry, and must present proof of a valid negative nucleic acid test upon arrival; the test must be completed at a medical institution mutually recognized by the governments of Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong / Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR


  • • Government offices have resumed operations in Hong Kong SAR Travel Restrictions

    • Entry ban for travelers from Group A (extremely high risk) which includes: Brazil, Ireland, South Africa and the United Kingdom, until further notice, except for:
    - Travelers who have stayed in Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, and the United Kingdom for less than two hours in the past 21 days
    - There will be two designated flights (CX 2252) departing London, United Kingdom on 21-28 April 2021; reservations open on 8 April 2021 and all arriving passengers must undergo the 21-day quarantine in a specified quarantine hotel (Ramber Garden Hotel in Tsing Yi); the room rate is HKD 400 to HKD 500 per night

    • Entry ban for all non-Hong Kong SAR residents entering from overseas countries and regions by plane, except individuals entering from Mainland China, Macau SAR, or Taiwan, who have not been outside these regions in the 14 days preceding entry

    • Effective 9 April 2021, entry ban for all non-Hong Kong SAR residents entering from overseas countries and regions by plane, except individuals entering from Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, who have not been outside these regions in the 21 days preceding entry

    • Air transit/transfer services at Hong Kong International Airport has resumed in phases

    • The previously announced launch of the Singapore-Hong Kong Air Travel Bubble has been postponed until further notice

  • As of 25 December, HKSAR government has tightened the compulsory quarantine requirements for persons arriving at Hong Kong who have stayed in places outside China and restrict the board of persons who have stayed in South Africa apart from the United Kingdom (UK) as announced, for more than two hours in past 21 days will not be allowed to board for Hong Kong; inbound travelers boarded a civil aviation aircraft that arrives at, or is about to arrive at Hong Kong (specified aircraft), or during the 21 days before that day, has stayed in any very high-risk specified place (i.e. Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada (starting from 25th December), Ecuador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America) must provide the following documents: 1) test report in English or Chinese bearing the name of the traveler identical to his or her valid travel document to show a) underwent a nucleic acid test for COVID-19, sample of which was taken from relevant traveler within 72 hours before scheduled departure; b) test conducted on the sample is a nucleic acid test for COVID-19; c) result of the test is the relevant traveler tested negative for COVID-19; relevant traveler has confirmation in English or Chinese of room reservation in a hotel in Hong Kong for not less than 21 nights starting on the day of the arrival of the relevant traveler in Hong Kong
