Employee benefits are an important part of any package offered by a company to its associates.  Due to the current economic environment and rising health care costs, companies have had to cut back on employee benefits. The impact to employee morale and productivity has led organizations to look for alternative approaches to increase value of employee benefits with little to no costs.

In the article “Building Company Loyalty with Unusual Benefits,” Brittany Maling gives insight on many free or low-cost benefits that can be simply added to your mobility program to increase employee satisfaction and boost company morale. Consider offering the following options:

• Order in lunch once in a while, especially during crunch time for a project
• Offer free sodas or subsidize soda and snack vending machines
• Give employees a free vacation day on their birthday or a floating holiday
• Consider discounts from local merchants — often gyms or parking lots. Most gyms will give a discount if a certain number of employees sign up
• Give employees a chance to relax by treating them to tickets — try a theater or a baseball game
• Retain a coffee service to provide free, and tasty coffee to your employees.
• Offer free yoga classes to relieve stress
• Bring in a masseuse and treat your employees to a free massage
• Reward them with "work-from-home" days

Some of these suggested perks are sure to increase employee morale and SIRVA has had much success in helping companies accomplish this type of initiative.

SIRVA can easily incorporate a no-cost discount program into an employee benefit program through MyHomeBenefits, our relocation affinity service.
