Appliance Services

Moving a Dishwasher

Dishwashers are traditionally hard-wired and attached to the home’s plumbing for hot water as well as a drain outlet. To add to the complexity, many of the lines may be routed through the cabinetry. All lines are disconnected and capped prior to the removal of the dishwasher and the unit is drained.

Dishwasher Relocation Disassembly

Proper service requires the technician to assess installation thoroughly as no two dishwashers are alike. Many times the power, water supply, and drain requirements must be customized in order to adapt the unit to the existing facilities. Expertise in both plumbing and electricity, as well as code requirements, are required if the residence isn’t set up for a dishwasher. All lines are connected and a test cycle is run to ensure proper operation and no leaks.

Electric Dryer Relocation Disassemble

Ensure that the machine is operational before initiating this preparation process. Lay down floor protection such as Masonite. Unplug the 220V electrical cord and secure it to the back of the dryer. Remove the vent tubing, wrap, and place inside the dryer. Retract the legs fully into the base of the dryer. Shrink-wrap or bubble-wrap the control panel and door.

Electric Dryer Relocation Reassemble

Connect the new dryer tubing to the wall vent and then attach this venting to the dryer. Plug-in 220V cord and test to confirm the operation.

Gas Dryer Relocation Disassemble

Ensure that the machine is operational before initiating this preparation process. Lay down floor protection such as Masonite. Shut off the gas line to the rear of the dryer, remove gas flex tubing and venting, wrap in paper and insert in the drum. Cap the line according to code compliance requirements, unplug and secure the electrical cord to the back of the machine. Perform a leak test. Shrink-wrap or bubble-wrap the control panel and door.

Gas Dryer Relocation Reassemble

Connect the gas dryer to an existing gas line with the customer-provided gas flex-line, reconnect the hard-line venting per code requirements and test the line with a combustible leak detector. Level and run the machine to verify that it is operational.

Gas Range Relocation Disassemble

Ensure that the machine is operational before initiating this preparation process. Lay down floor protection such as Masonite. Shut off the gas line to the rear of the stove, remove gas flex tubing and venting, wrap in paper and insert in the drum, remove and pack the gas range and cooktop burner plates. Cap the line according to code compliance requirements, unplug and secure the electrical cord to the back of the machine. Perform a leak test. Shrink-wrap or bubble-wrap the control panel and door.

Gas Range Relocation Reassemble

Reconnect the gas line to the range of the existing line, test with a combustible leak detector, and lower the leveling legs. Level the range and test the burners.

Refrigerator with Ice Maker Relocation Disassemble

Pull the refrigerator out from the wall and shut off the cold water at the water supply on the wall and at the back of the refrigerator and cap the valve on the wall.  Drain the solenoid at the rear of the refrigerator to prevent freezing.

Refrigerator with Ice Maker Relocation Reassemble

Lay down the floor protection such as Masonite to install the refrigerator. Reconnect the ice maker inlet valve to the cold water supply and make a connection at the saddle valve on the cold water line – if needed. Perform a visual inspection of the valve inside the refrigerator to check for leaks. Test the cold water dispenser if applicable. Move the refrigerator back into place.

Washer Relocation Disassemble

Ensure that the machine is operational before initiating this preparation process. Lay down floor protection such as Masonite. Secure the drum with a washer pack, filament tape, or lock it internally as required. Next, drain the system and pump. This prevents freezing in the winter and mildew/bacteria buildup in warm weather or storage situations. Secure the electrical cord, retract the legs into the base, remove the inlet and drain hoses and either shrink-wrap or bubble-wrap the control panel.

Relocation Reassemble

Remove all washer pack or tub securing devices and reconnect the inlet hoses and the drain hose. Secure drain hose in the drain; replace the old hoses and washers with the new hoses and washers – only as needed. Authorization must be obtained for that type of service. Level the machine and test for operation.

Moving a Water Softener

Water softeners are used to make “hard” water more “soft.” The benefit to this is cleaner tasting water, and less abrasive chemicals running throughout your home in the hope that your pipes won’t become clogged or hurt your skin.

Water Softener Relocation Disassemble/ Reassemble

Proper service requires the technician to assess installation thoroughly as no two homes are alike. Many times the power, water supply and drain requirements must be customized in order to adapt the unit to the existing facilities. Expertise in both plumbing and electrical runs and code requirements is required if the residence isn’t set up for a water softener. All lines are connected and the unit is run to ensure proper operation and no leaks.

Moving a Billard (Pool) Table

Most pool tables are either a composite or a slate type. Attempting to lift one end of the table will tell you if it’s slate or not. If the table is a composite, then removal or folding of the legs is normally all that is required to service them. For regulation three-piece or single piece slate tables, conduct a visual inventory of the table, making note of any pre-existing damage to the table.

Billard (Pool) Table Relocation Disassemble

Remove rails, staples, and/or glue from the felt and remove the felt. Roll the felt over two pool cues and wrap this felt in a paper pad and label “pool table felt.” Mark the table (to assist the destination technician in the assembly process) and disassemble the remainder of the table and box all hardware. Label the box “pool table parts.” Crate the all slates in individual crates using 1″ x 4″ spruce or 2″ x 4″ plywood material. A single piece slate table can be moved with a dolly without crating, only if it is traveling over a level surface. If a single slate pool table is going upstairs or crossing an uneven surface, the table must be disassembled and the slate crated. This service requires a proper number of service technicians, as the slates can weigh 400 to 600 pounds by themselves.

Billard (Pool) Table Relocation Reassemble

The assembly of a slate pool table per industry standards is time-consuming and exacting work. You must not be able to detect the seams and the surface must be perfectly level for the table to be “playable” when done. Our technicians use the electronic mechanic’s level to level the table, and install the felt that was removed at origin and install pockets or return system as needed. For a one-piece slate, the same applies with the exception that additional labor may be required to move the slate onto the table as the driver generally leaves it in the garage. Uncrating slate is an additional charge. In most cases, the playing felt can be re-used if it been properly removed and packed, and is usually good for 3 to 4 moves. We provide re-felting upon the customer’s request, and at their expense. Re-felting can be costly, as you must recover the bumpers as well as the playing surface.

**Special Note on Billard (Pool) Tables:

To prevent costly claims, an inspection and detailed condition report is documented by the origin technician and displayed on the invoice. Some customers assume that their pool tables will automatically be recovered as part of the service, and your staff must make sure they understand this is not “normal” service, and the services are represented accurately. Thorough education of the customer, and documentation by the service personnel, ensure the mover will not have to pay for a very expensive (upwards of $300.00) re-covering. Also, certain antique billiard tables require the use of special wrenches when disassembling or reassembling the table. It is critically important to know if the approximate age, size, and manufacturer of the table when communicating a service request.

Clock Services

Coo Coo Clock Relocation Disassemble

Clocks can be very sensitive and temperamental. The weights and other pieces dangle beneath the clock are delicate and should be handled with the utmost care. When moving the clock it should be kept in an upright position and a clock expert should be called to handle it during a big move. Moving a Swing Set

Many swing sets or outdoor playsets require more than one person to disassemble and reassemble, making them fairly expensive. Metal swing sets are fairly straightforward, except for the fact that the hardware may be rusty and require some replacement at the destination. On wooden swing sets, exposure to weather complicates matters as the hardware may rust and the lumber may swell or split.

Most swing sets that are set in concrete require extra time and materials to disassemble and reassemble.

Swing Set Relocation Disassemble

Take a Polaroid or digital picture of the swing set or do a sketch of the swing set and include with the hardware also include the manufacturers’ booklet or any instructions the shipper may have. Disassemble set to largest manageable sections and label all parts for easy assembly. Pricing varies with the size and types of swing sets.

Swing Set Relocation Reassemble

Assemble the swing set in any location, but wherever you do choose must be level. If the area is not level, preparation by a landscaper prior to assembly is required, and this is not part of normal 3rd party service. The technician must be prepared with an assortment of treated exterior lumber and hardware. Many times damaging boards and broken, rusted hardware cannot be avoided during disassembly. We will replace some hardware free of charge on a limited basis for safety purposes but will charge for hardware lost during the move or lumber that must be replaced. On wooden swing sets and jungle gyms, additional technicians and time are usually required for assembly. No two swing sets are alike, and the cost is determined by the complexity of the design and availability of a safe site for their installation.
