Visa & Immigration Update - Chinese Single-Entry Z-Visa Invitation Letter No Longer Required for Z-Visa Application

Policy Highlights:

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Department, the government have ceased to issue the Chinese Single-Entry Z-Visa Invitation Letter for foreign employees obtaining the Z-Visa at the China Embassy abroad from 20 March 2017.

Foreign employees can now apply for the Chinese Single-Entry Z-Visa with the valid Alien Employment License notice, a valid passport and other standard personal documents. The Single-Entry Z-visa Invitation Letter will no longer required.

Once the Z-visa is issued, foreign employees can enter China and proceed with the remaining relocation requirements such as employment License, residence permit and application within 30 days upon arrival.

Impact of the Above Changes:

  • Foreign employees can now apply for Z-Visa directly at the Chinese embassies in their country of residence
